Mesquite, NV Tri State Marathon

Well, after some 620+ miles and 23 weeks later, the day finally came. The Mammoth Tri State Mesquite, NV Marathon started in Ut, went through Arizona and ended in Nevada. It was beautiful landscape and CRAP for wind. We weren't ready for that! It was nice weather other than the blasted head wind. We got to meet lots of great people and some truly amazing runners. I am so glad I did this and so glad Sheri and Justin said "yes" 23 weeks ago! It has been such a ride. Totally worth it! It was an awesome experience! We had so much fun! It is bitter sweet now that it is over. We all decided that this will not be the only marathon we run! Thank you so much mom, my family and friends for all your support! My amazing husband gave up his Saturday mornings, listened to me talk about my aches and loved me and kept me going for the last 23 weeks. And little Addy was a trooper to hang out in her stroller and help me run all those miles! Thank you, I love you! Hmmm...whats next?

Addy loves her cousins! They decorated for her birthday. So sweet! We just love you!

Her baby. She loves her. All the time. The broken barbie next to Addy is one of her other b-day presents. She had it opened for not even 10 min and she had broke it. Again, her fathers daughter :) She had a great b-day! Thanks family for all the great presents and we love you! Wow, our baby is 2 years old!

Hi ya'll! Hope everyone is well! We have had a fun and busy summer! Mike and I celebrated our 4 yr anniversary. Crazy! We have been together for almost 7 years! I love him so much! I am so thankful for him, his hard work and being a great dad! Mike bought a new project car, 72 Cuda. He has been wanting one since I can remember! That is keeping him busy. I can't wait until it is done! I told him I get to drive this one!

We made a couple of trips to Star Valley/Jackson. Lots of fun! That is my Grandma Darley and my mom.

Addy's favorite part of Jackson. The park where we parked the car. So sad when we had to leave! She is getting so big! She talks non-stop. Doesn't always make sense but talking! She is still sweet as ever and a busy body! Only stops for Disney! She will be two at the end of the month! I an trying to decide what kind of cake to make, any suggestions?

Addy, me, and one of my bestest friends Lindsey. We went to the circus. It was so much fun! Thanks Linds! You are going to be a great mom!

Sheri and I at the Top of Utah 1/2. We did it in 2 hrs 9 min. We were excited. It was alot of fun! I see more of those in my future! The training for the Marathon is going great! We have about 5 weeks left. My brother Justin decided to run with us! Yah! We are so excited!

Some summer vacations

Hey there world! Just a few pics to add. We have been having such a great summer! This last weekend Addy, Mike and I went over to the lake. Our little peanut loves her new glasses! This girl is a fish! She face planted it twice in the kiddy pool, she didn't even blink. I think she actually held her breath, no coughing when she came up. She discovered this breath thing in the bath. She blows bubbles and puts her face in the water all the time. Anyways, we had a blast.

We also went to Star Valley a couple of weeks ago with my Grandma and mom. She loved the swimming pool and the golf cart rides! She wore my grandma out! We had a lot of fun. There is a cool baby size park there, instead of sand or wood chips, its was pea gravel. Odd I know. But Addy was obsessed with it! There is a nest of Robins under the cabin deck about eye level. Addy had fun checking the baby birds out a few times a day. She would point to where the nest was and say "cheep cheep".

This is my Grandma Gerry, she is my mom's mom.

Addy had also spent a lot of time with the cousins. They have so much fun. Little Wyatt wasn't here this day. Good old Gunner, he sits through anything as long as he thinks you are paying attention to him.

We have done a few car shows this year. This was at Thanksgiving Point. Nanny came to help out with Addy. It was fun. She was all over the place. We actually have one of those "monkey on the back" with tail to hold on too. I used to make fun of them, then I had Addy. She has no fear.

Our summer has been pretty busy so far and will be for the next few weeks. But its all fun!

For those that are wondering, marathon training is in the 5th week. Going pretty well. Some days I do wonder what the h@#& I got myself into but most of the time I am just way excited! Wish us luck! Hope you all enjoyed my novel, sorry!

HOLY CRAP!

I just did the craziest thing I think I have ever done. Ever. Sheri (sister in-law) and I just signed up for the Top of Utah Half Marathon Aug 28th and the Mesquite Nevada Marathon November 20th. There is no backing out now! We have both wanted to try one for a while and just decided last Sat that we were going to do it. We started our training schedule this week. This will make for an interesting next few months! Wish us luck!
On another note, Addy is doing so well! We have been to a couple of car shows (post pics later) and just been hanging out! Thanks to my mom for all her help at the shows! Addy doesn't know how to sit. She is always on the go. Addy has more attitude than I ever thought possible for 19 month old! We love her so much! She is the best thing in our life! She is talking more and makes it impossible to pay attention to anything but her! Mike is good. Just hanging out staying busy. He is the best dad I could ever hope to have for Addy (and some day more)! Not to mention a pretty good husband! I am a lot to handle sometimes. :)

Addy's first Encounter with a Bully

So this is how it went down:
Addy and I went to the park with Katie (sister-in-law), Emily (friend of Katie's) and their kids. We had a picnic and then sent the kids over to play. They were having a great time! Climbing around, enjoying the slides, ya know kid stuff. Well, these two moms stroll in with their squad of kids about 15 min before we were going to leave. Addy was standing on a platform minding her own business, when this snarling mean 5 ish year old girl takes two hands plants them firmly on Addy's little shoulders and pushes with all her might then screams NO! at Ads. (Addy was totally just walking over to the wall of things to play with not touching or even babling to that girl.) Addy lands flat on her butt. The little mean girl just trots off, no biggie. Oh and Mom, ya she just stood there. You can imagine the R rated words running through my mind. It took Addy a couple of seconds to process what had happened. Then the waterworks. She didn't calm down until we left. I even tried to send her to play with the kids, she just sat down by them and cried. She was heartbroken. SO sad. I was proud of myself for a first time mom with the first encounter with a mean girl. I gave Addy her space to see if she would shake it off. Nope, to heartbroken. Katie even tried to console her, she did pretty good till she set her down to play. So we left to go watch The Super Slueths and take a nap. Well that is my mean girl novel. Easter

Easter was so fun this year! This is Addy finding her Easter basket. When I was growing up my mom always hid my basket. So my brother Colby and I carry on the tradition. It took her a bit to find it. She got one of those crazy Zhu Zhu pets and a couple of other things. She loves it.

We went to my uncle Brian's house for the hunt and dinner. It was so fun! It didn't take Addy to long to figure out the candy goes in the basket.

This is Molly, Wyatt, Mabel, Addy and Nanny Rose. The kids made away with a large stash of candy.

Colby and Katie and the kids did the Egg Hunt at Lees with us. It was pretty fun. Little Mabel is helping Addy go the right way. Addy loves her cousins!!

Mabel did not want anything to do with the Easter Bunny. Addy didn't realize what she was in front of until I said "Tell the Easter Bunny thank you" she turned around looked up and froze. Her eyes were as big as the sun! I had to pick her up and move her! Easter was great!

Oh and thanks girls for Trashy TV night! Give Thor and Wally kisses for me Lins!

Howdy y'all! Things have been moving right along here at the Morton's house! Addy is growing up so fast! Her new favorite thing is climbing in and on everything! She is our very own monkey! This WAS her book holder, now it is an Addy holder. She is too big for it, her bum doesn't even sit on the bottom. This started as her first fun thing to climb in, then once she realized she was too big, she moved on to her toy basket and a laundry basket.

She loves chicken nuggets. We gave her some ketchup a while back and she loved it! Not sure if she likes the nuggets more than the ketchup! A few weeks ago we let her dip her nuggets by herself. Well, now she insists on doing it herself. She is a spit fire! She has a temper, wow. I just laugh when she starts her fit. She loves the dogs. Always telling them to go to the mudroom. Most of the time she is a great kid and happy. Sleeps great and loves everything, cup, dog, person, toy, gate, you name she loves it. We can't wait for spring and going to the park! Any of you moms our there ever want to join us this summer, just give us a shout! We would loved the company! Oh, I started going to a Zumba class, it is great! I highly recommend it ladies! Thanks for the partner Jess! Well that is enough for this novel.

PS I finished the Twilight novels a few days after the last post, I am hooked. I loved them! Who could choose between Edward and Jacob? Are you kidding? Who said you couldn't have cake and eat it too :) I am embarrassingly addicted. I hear admitting to it is the first step to recovery :)

I held out as long as I could, but I caved. I did it. I am reading the Twilight series and am officially hooked. I started them just after the New Year and now am in the middle of some stranger taking Bella's stuff. Ugh! I can't read fast enough! I am hooked to these like I am JR Wards vampires! Love it! Thanks mom for showing me the light!

Christmas

We had such a great Christmas! Addy loved her toys and the wrapping paper! So far her favorites have been her books and her Dora couch.

Mike's mom and Savana (our niece) came over Christmas morning. She lasted all day! I thought she would get crusty but she was a trooper! Mike got me a new laptop for Christmas and I am still adjusting to it. It took awhile to get all the upgrades so pics had to wait to be downloaded. I am so not computer saavy. One day I will learn, but I really have no patients for it.

Addy and Mabel were playing in Nanny's Christmas present and loved it. Until they started pushing each other! We gave Mabes a talking Dora backpack and oh how Addy loved it! It was so sad! So the next day Papa showed up at our house with a backpack of Addy's very own. It took some convincing on our part to get Addy to play with it. When he took it out of the sack, she smiled really big and stuck her hands behind her back and just stood and stared. She was used to getting told she couldn't play with it! She loves it now. Thanks everyone for a great Christmas! Until next year! Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

Where does the time go?

Hey ya'll! Things are going great here at the Morton house! I snapped this shot of Addy with a toy on her head. She did that one all on her own. She walked around with it on her head half the morning! She is walking like a champ! She such a character! I love getting to know her everyday!

I took her to a place a few blocks from our house to snap some shots of her, well only got a couple of good ones. The second we stepped foot out of the car, a puppy came to play. Addy+Puppy=no attention to mommy, just puppy. But is was fun anyway.

This was her first attempt all by her lonesome on drinking from a big kid glass. She was soaked and so was the table. But she had fun. For some reason she always comes home from playing with Papa with a messy or wet shirt. I guess that means she is having fun! Thanksgiving was great. We brought my Grandpa Coy home for the day, its always nice to have him around. I also managed to make Grandma's Pumpkin Pie just the way it should be! Yah! I was nervous, high standards to meet. Oh and too the "EC" it was great seeing all of you at the party! Glad you had it! Love you girls and miss you! Merry Christmas everyone!

Happy Birthday and Halloween!

Time has gone by so fast! Addy's frist birthday and the start of the Holidays are here! Are little angel dressed up as the cutes little Ladybug I have ever seen! She went trick or treating like a pro! Mom decided to dress up like a Doc obviously...we tried to get dad to join, but we failed. Addy loved her first birthday party! She was more interested in the bows on the presents then the presents themselves! But after we got the toys going she loved it! I did make her a milk free cake (allergic to milk), to our surprise she didn't dig in... She is walking when she wants to. Which hasn't been since Friday. Stubborn just like Mike. She's got her animal sounds and what then look like down pretty good. She can say bottle and Hi and Bye and Boo. She is growing like a weed. Still a shrimp, but going strong! This last year has gone by so fast! Up next, the Holidays! I will be attempting Grandma Allsop's homemade Cinnamon Rolls and Grandma Darley's famous Pumpkin pie! Wish me luck, I think I will need it!

In Loving Memory

As I laid in bed tonight thinking of my loved ones, I remember one in particular, Sonya Brown Young. One year ago a tragedy hit her family and friends. She passed away suddenly. For those of you that did not know her, I am sorry. Because I am a better person for having known her. She was one of the most loving, kind, giving, and incredibly beautiful people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. I met her about 6 years ago when she gave me the opportunity of working at Rocky Mountain Dermatology. Working there I met more life long friends and made room for new family. She always had others on her mind. If she saw you having a bad day, she made you smile. Every holiday was made better by her generosity and thoughtfulness. She planned wonderful trips, gave gifts from the heart, made great pumpkin stew and those little donught things you can eat in New Orleans. She was very close to her Heavenly Father. She loved him and believed in his message. She was a great friend and second family. I am so sorry that she had the hardships she did. She was a hero as she pushed through them. Always had a smile even when it was most difficult. She raised wonderful children, Jenny, Johnny and Sean, oh and can't forget her loving husband, Rob. Her giving and kindness was passed on through all of them. Thank you Sonya, for your gift of loving life and those that share it with you. We love and miss you. Till we meet again.

Another trip to Bearlake

Last weekend we took a trip to the cabin again. This time it was just a few of us. It was so fun! We ate at the Bearlake West Clubhouse, new chef, pretty good. Not Jeff the Cheff standards (old chef there, go fired, drugs or something). I gave Addy a french fry, she picked it up, looked at it, dropped it, and started screaming! I had to pick her up to get her to stop! Odd child!

The weather was about 80. It was perfect. This is most likely the last time out for skiing. :( So sad. Justin and I are in the process of mastering skiing two at a time. It is pretty fun! I am surprised at how smoothly it has gone! We got the high five down this weekend!

Papa let Addy play in a stream. She didn't know what to think!

This is at our cabin, beautiful view! Addy actually didn't mind the sunglasses! She is a sport! She is all over the place now! Into everything! And growing like a weed! We love her so much! She is such an amazing blessing! Bummed summer is ending. I am not a fan of the cold.

Bearlake

We took a family outing to the cabin in July. It was so fun! The cabin was packed. We loved it! Addy loves playing with Molly, Wyatt and Mabel. On sat we took a trip to the beach. Mom and Katie said Addy was making funny looks so they decided to take a pic! This was Addy's first trip to the beach.

Papa and Addy hanging out. To make the trip to the beach more enjoyable, I brought along Adds Bumbo. She hates grass, so I wasn't sure she would like sand. She seemed to like just kicking back and playing in the Bumbo.

This was her first taste of nice warm Bearlake water. To my suprise, she didn't mind! Well, until her little butt hit the sand! Then she cried!

Funny face but she loved it! We will go back for sure! We also went to the clubhouse pool and tested the water. I had one of those floaties for babies, she loved it! She also liked playing on the top step of the pool! I am glad she is gonna like the water! It is part of the Allsop tradition!

Addy sleeps...however and where ever!

As she has gotten older and more mobile, she sleeps in the oddests places and positions. This one I was giving her her dinner and we didn't even finish before she zonked.

Mike has checked on her a number of times in the early morning and found her asleep sitting up in her crib. (I caught her at her naptime this pic.) Until lately, she hadn't been able to lay down from sitting when she was tired in her crib. Luckily she has figured it out. Can't be very comfortable!

So I put her down for a nap midday and what do you know, diapers fail. So I took off the sheets (my spare was also getting washed), stripped her and put her back down. Man kids are flexable! I wish I could still do that! Anyway, just thought I would share some of my "oh how cute" moments!

It's been a while...

Addy is getting so big! We went to Willow Park for Molly's birthday and Addy played in the swing! She loved it! She has changed so much over the last little while! She is always on the go, crawling everywhere! She says Mama and dada and is all smiles (well most of the time)! We are so blessed to have such a sweet tempered, healthy, beautiful baby girl!

We are so glad summer is here! We have been so busy! We went to Richland for a car show at the end of June. That was fun. Instead of pulling our mammoth of a trailor, we just took the Mazda. We put it in the back of the truck and headed out! I was a fun trip! We decided to go to show his grandad the Mazda! He loved it! We are so glad we made it up there! We also did the Cruise-in again. That is fun as always! Just a couple more shows left this year!

Watching Mike unload and load is pretty funny. My Mike is one handy man. He built some metal ramps that are about 12 feet long to get it in and out. They work great. The Richland newspaper did an article on Mike and Dick and the Mazda. It was pretty neat. I don't think his grandad thought the Maz would ever get this much attention!

While we were in Richland we went down to the Columbia and introduced Addy to ducks and geese. She didn't know what to think at first! She didn't like the Seagulls, they were way too noisy!

Sping has finally arrived, yipee!

We went up to my mom and dad's to visit for a while. They are great entertainment for Addy! Who knew she would love lids so much! Oh and wet spot in the croch, that was caused by a wet wash cloth not what you may think :)

Hanging out with Papa! He lets her do whatever she wants! She loves the grab the mustash of his and pull!

We went to the park and had a picinic! It was so much fun! Addy loves playing outside! The piggies are new, Mike calls them antlers... For an Addy update: She is getting to big, she is 7 months now! She has two teeth! She loves her fruit, rice cereal and some of the veggies, she hates peas and green beans! She has her mom's gag reflex that is for sure. Sorry Addy...

I love hanging out with our beautiful little girl! I just wish she looked more like me! We go through all that work and they come out looking like their dad... at least that is what most people say :) But I guess he is pretty good looking so its okay!

Spring has been great! So far we have done the spring cleaning thing, sprused up the yard and are now tackling one last flower bed in the front yard. I am so glad the landscaping is almost done! If anybody likes croockneck squast, let us know! Mike planted 3 plants this year, so we will have plenty!

On a more fun note, Justin, Sheri and I went boating on Sat! It was beautiful, pure heaven! We braved the cold and decided to ski! I was too excited to let my new slolom ski just sit in the basement one day longer! So the skiing season has officially splashed off!

Thanksgiving Point carshow

This is Clint Taylor and his lovely wife. There are parts of his car on ours. For those of you who don't know the story of the Mazda, here is a very short version: Mike's granddad and Clint were stationed in Japan in 1961. They were the first Americans to every purchase a Mazda. So the one you see is Dick's and Clint's was yellow. Dick bought Clint's sometime after they got back to the states. When Mike started restoring the Maz, he used some parts from Clint's car. Parts are not easy to come by... Clint told us some pretty good stories Granddad! Sounds like you always were a prakster! We couldn't have asked for a better day for a show! It was beautiful and Addy hug out all day without so much as a wimper!

Addy's Firsts'

Well, our little baby got her first tooth! I know, not too exciting but a mile stone none the less. It is crazy how fast she is growing! She is already 6 months! It seems like yesterday we had just brought her home. She is sitting, laughing, "talking" and blowing bubbles at us like mad! We are excited to see her grow and experience all her firsts! She is truely amazing!
The other first: Addy and I stayed all by ourselves Sunday night! That is a miracle for me! I hate staying alone!

Trip to Richland WA

We just got back from Mike's grandparents. It was a lot of fun and a much needed visit! We try and go up twice a year but last fall I was 8 months pregnant and a 10 hour drive wasn't a great idea. This was the first time his grandparents got to see Addy. She loved them! She was all smiles for them! Every time Dick (granddad)talked to Addy, she got all bashful and turned her head and smiled! It was so cute. Whenever Dottie (grandmom)would talk to her she would just grin from ear to ear. It was wonderful to spend time with them. We wish they were closer to us! Thanks for the great trip guys! We love and miss you always! See you again soon we hope!

Easter at Grandma and Grandpa Darley's

This is Katie, Addy, Mabel and Nanny Rose hanging out after the easter egg hunt. I was so much fun. Every year we go to the Darley's for the easter egg hunt. I love spending time with the family!

This is Addelynn's first Easter (I am sure you all knew that... :) The Easter bunny gave her a couople of new outfits, Bananna food (did you expect chocolate?) and a tiger she went nuts over.

This is the Darley side of the famiy. Well everyone except Cody (cousin he was golfing) and Sheri and Justin (they were in Hawii).

Chrome in the Dome

This weekend was Chrome in the Dome up at ISU (Idaho State University). It was a great show! There was a ton of beautiful cars there and lots of great people. This is the first year we have gone to this show. We will for sure be going back next year. Both cars did great! The Mazda was a smash! Mike and the Mazda even made it into the Idaho Post! The Chevelle got lots of Oos and "whoa, nice paint" too! Addy did so good! She was an angel the whole time. Hardly fussed at all. Considering how off her schedule was this weekend and hanging out at the stadium, she was perfect! She loved the people and bright lights! She was a smash there too! I think she has a few sets of new grandparents! It was a great weekend!

A Tribute to a Fallen Star

Ah, spring is in the air. The warm days have brought many bikes out of hibernation. They wake to breath the air and feel the road underneath their tires. For those of you who don't know, this is Betty. She is a Yamaha, V-Star 650 with a killer paintjob thanks to my talented husband! She is my lost love. I sold her last year. Mike was mumbling something about carseats not fitting. So I said my goodbyes. I miss her! But Addy is a much more exciting ride!

Mmm good!! Today we gave Addy her first taste of rice cereal! She actually did pretty well! I think she even managed to get some into her big belly! Isn't she just the cutest thing you ever did see! We love her so much! I must say that this whole having a bundle of joy of our own is pretty cool. It is a whole new experience and we are looking forward to all it brings! Well expect maybe the whole teenage trouble thing... She is absolutely amazing! She is getting to know her voice well too! Watching TV with her is almost impossible! Mike says she is like me, talks alot... who knew!

The family went and visited Great Grandpa Coy! He loved seeing the grandkids and our kids! We love him so much! He is a great man and we named Addy after him (Addelynn Coy). The other kids are my beautiful neices and nephew (Molly in pink, Mable and Wyatt). It was alot of fun to get the family together. He is currently at a rehab center. He gets to go home the first of March. Yah!

This is Addelynn Coy Morton. She was born Oct. 28, 2008. She was 6 lbs 5 oz and was approx 20 inches (I say approx because the nurse measured her wrong!). She is a sweetheart! She has been an easy baby. She hardly fusses! She started sleeping throuhg the night at about 6 weeks! We love our bundle of joy!
